Mastering The Power of Story:
Taking Charge of Your Audience, Emerging Markets, and Global Change

Patrick Horton, acclaimed speaker, social and media advocate, anthropologist, consultant, and entrepreneur will lead us in a day-long presentation and workshop that will show you how the speaking world can thrive in a rapidly changing world, and how speakers can enhance their ability to expand and better serve their audience to help lead the way to success and possibility by transforming their understanding of the nature, applications and life of story.

The revolution is here and the future is now for all professional speakers, speaking professionals, and decision-making change agents. Audiences and audience needs have changed over time. Existing markets and oftentimes untapped potential markets have changed as well. Emerging media, technology, and means for communicating to an audience have changed exponentially and redefined the game in a world that is itself redefined daily by shifts in corporate and cultural globalization.

So what do you do in such a fast changing world?

You turn to thought leaders and innovative strategists like Patrick Horton. Don’t just take our word for it. Patrick has become known as THE STORY COACH because he can help even the most successful speakers, screenwriters, and filmmakers in the world. Discover ways to radically improve on what is divine and deliver on what is possible. Let others chase the curve in their lives, presentations, work and career. Be among those who step up and take the lead.

"It took me years to hone my talk into the respected and internationally demanded presentation it had become. It took Patrick two hours to make it better. He constantly surprises and inspires me with my own material."

W Mitchell, CPS, CSP, CPAE
International speaker, inspirational guide, & author of
It's Not What Happens To You, It's What You Do About It

This dynamic and interactive day-long event will address some of the most essential questions facing the speaking profession, including:

  • How the speaking profession has changed in the last few years and what speakers need to do to thrive in the future
  • How most professional speakers need to dramatically change how they prepare for presentations if they want to make lasting impacts on their audiences and be invited back to speak
  • Why most speakers’ conception of what a story is holding them back (Hint: if you think a story is primarily a personal anecdote you tell or act out to illustrate a point in your presentation, you need to attend this event).

"Patrick Horton will get you to the best story you can tell! [H]e . . . is uncannily able to cut through all the confusions and obstacles that plague the rest of us struggling to tell stories in film. I have seen him work with people immobilized by projects for months and years and set them on track within minutes. The epiphanies are brought about with humor, gentleness and ease. All the technical expertise in the world is for naught, without the basis of a good story, powerfully told. In this business you are not only selling your story, you are always selling yourself. Patrick Horton gives you the tools to do all this in a way that is original, fun and inspiring."

Gabrielle Kelly
Film Producer, Industry Consultant

"Since the best stories are the ones that are the most like life, it should follow that the best story teachers open a window to more than just stories. Patrick’s seminars open a window into the process that helps writers get underneath all the stuff they think they have to do, and plug into what they’re meant to do. It is both practical and magical, and well worth the visit for any writer who really wants to cross that bridge."

Jeff Arch
Academy Award Nominated writer of "Sleepless in Seattle"

"Patrick invariably shows you how to get to the heart of what you want to say. Not by following a proscribed structure but by understanding and nurturing what it truly means to be a storyteller."

Louise Levison
Business Plan Consultant
author Filmmakers and Financing: Business Plans for Independents, and business plans for many films, including, "The Blaire Witch Project."

"Patrick Horton has the incredible ability of getting past the noise in life and focusing in like a laser beam on what matters. He has helped me bring the incredible power of story into my presentations and changed my vision and expectations of my audiences. Through his coaching, I am now significantly more successful in serving and changing the lives of the people that attend my keynote presentations and seminars."

This presentation in three acts and tandem hands-on workshop will take a practical look at the emerging 'story' of the changes that are sweeping the speaking and allied media worlds. Join your fellow GLAC members and learn how you can use the untapped power of the Story to work with specific audiences and presentations; to reach existing and untapped markets; and to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of your audiences even as you claim and clearly redefine your role and potential contributions as individual speakers and as a profession as a whole.
